AAPI Youth Empowerment Summit: 
Championing Community Services, Educational Equity, and Family Wellbeing on
March 16th, 2025



The Chinese Community Center (CCC), in collaboration with the Hindu Cultural Center, Myanmar Multiethnic Sociocultural Association, Albany New York Nepalese Society, and AAPI Heritage Month 518,  is proud to announce the AAPI Youth Empowerment Summit:  Championing Community Services, Educational Equity, and Family Wellbeing event on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at CCC Chinese School (Shaker Middle School). 


This is a free event for AAPI parents and youth in the capital region of New York. We warmly invite everyone to join us in learning, connection, and celebration for youth and parent empowerment!

Key Sessions

  1. Youth Program Showcase
    Discover the inspiring work of young leaders and their innovative initiatives aimed at fostering academic success, mental health, cultural pride, and community engagement. This showcase highlights creativity, collaboration, and the impact of youth-driven programs.

  2. Keynote Speech
    Hear from our esteemed keynote speaker — Ms. Elisa Alvarez, Associate Commissioner of the NYS Education Department — as she advocates for parent rights and shares insights on ensuring equitable, inclusive P-12 education for AAPI families.

  3. Panel Discussions
    Join two discussions on equitable education and youth and family well-being, featuring panelists such as:

    • Kathleen Skeals, North Colonie CSD Superintendent
    • Dr. Chittur Chittur, Albany City SD Board President
    • Nicole French, Shaker Middle School Hall Principal
    • Health professionals
    • Community leaders
    • Parent and youth representatives
